California: WOW Science Museum

After our night at Jessie's Grove Winery, we got up and headed over to the World of Wonder Science Museum, in Lodi. Because they are an ASTC Passport museum, our admission was free.  This was a small museum, with little science stations all over.  They did have a few things we hadn't seen before, like a tornado machine, smoke signal maker, and a station to take photos of your shadows.  That was the kids' favorite activity, I think.

He commands tornados!

The shadow camera was pretty fun.  The kids (and Jeff) enjoyed trying different poses.

After we finished up here, it was time to head out for our second day of driving.  Even though this was a small museum, I'm glad that we took the time to stop because it helped to break up the trip.  I have heard from several full-time traveling families that even though it seems like it's better to just push through and get to your destination, with kids (and dogs) it's better to take it slow and make time for fun stops along the way.  That was definitely our experience with this first travel weekend!

We have now made it to our next stop, and are hoping to spend a few weeks at this location.  Right out of the gate when we arrived, I had to visit an oral surgeon and have a tooth pulled.  I was supposed to have it pulled in Brookings, but I had an infection that needed to be cleared up first.  SO, all that to say that we haven't done much of anything here except school, rest, and swimming in the pool.  We are hoping to visit another ASTC Passport museum next week as well as an art gallery, but we will see!
